Széchenyi István University students have achieved outstanding success at recent Hungarian University and College National Championships (MEFOB), claiming three gold medals across two sports.
In the 3×3 women’s basketball finals held in Budapest, the UNI Győr SZESE team — Ács Luca, Baffy Fanni, Bánszegi Borbála, and Rozmán Lilla — defended their title with strong victories over Szombathely (21–14) and Corvinus University (21–15). Led by coach Dr. István Barthalos, this marked the university’s first-ever championship double in both 3×3 and 5v5 formats.
Meanwhile, the university’s men’s and women’s rowing teams triumphed at the ten-person rowing MEFOB held on the Danube near Margaret Island. Both teams advanced tactically from their heats and went on to win the finals with commanding leads, despite missing key members due to international qualifiers. Their coach, Dr. Zoltán Alföldi, praised the strategy and performance, noting it capped a year of victories across all rowing categories, including ergometer and Olympic-distance events.
The achievements reaffirm Széchenyi István University’s status as a top contender in university sports.
