In its first major competitive outing, the newly formed women’s futsal team of Kodolányi János University claimed a silver medal at the AVON Season-Opening Women’s Football Cup – DLSZ, held in Dunaújváros over the weekend.
Despite a narrow defeat in the final against the host team, the squad had an outstanding debut, advancing to the championship match as group winners. The strong performance was further highlighted by two individual awards:
- Zsófia Szabó was named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament
- Bogi Zeller, one of the team’s youngest players, received the DLSZ+ Special Prize
“This silver already feels like gold,” said the coaching staff, led by Erika Mihalkó, praising the team’s early achievements and strong spirit despite having a short history together.
The university extended congratulations to all players and invited more students—including high school and university-level athletes—to join its sports programmes.
