The Széchenyi István University’s concrete canoe team, SZEnavis, achieved major international success at the Krakow Concrete Canoe Challenge, bringing home two silver medals and the “Best Fighting Spirit” award.
The women’s and men’s pairs both secured second place among teams from 10 universities across 5 countries. The mixed pair faced unexpected difficulty when their paddle broke mid-race but still managed to finish sixth — earning praise for their determination and resilience.
Founded in 2012, SZEnavis gives students hands-on engineering experience by designing and racing concrete canoes. Their 2025 canoe weighed 76.5 kg and was tailored for the Krakow competition. After the race, the team visited fellow Széchenyi students competing in the Shell Eco-marathon, celebrating together as the SZEnergy Team set another world record in energy efficiency.
