The Pannon University Senate has selected the Koronczai Winery’s Olaszrizling as the official university wine for 2025. Chosen through a blind tasting, the fresh and vibrant white wine from the Balatonfüred-Csopak wine region emerged as the top pick among nine regional Olaszrizling contenders, curated by Dobosi Győző, member of the Balatoni Kör.
This marks the fourth year the university has partnered with the Balatoni Kör to celebrate local gastronomy and regional values. The selection aimed to highlight a light, easy-to-drink, yet character-rich wine that reflects the essence of the Balaton lifestyle.
The winning wine not only secured the university title but also represents the spirit of the BalatonBor label—a cooperative regional wine brand promoting quality and the feeling of Balaton in a single glass.
Produced by the Koronczai family in Balatonszőlős, the award-winning wine is crafted by third-generation winemaker Martin Koronczai, who was also named “Young Winemaker of the Year 2025” at the prestigious Szent Orbán Day wine competition.
