Running through cobblestone streets, riverbanks, and a UNESCO World Heritage backdrop, international students and staff from Nyíregyházi University took part in the Tokaj by Night Run on June 20, 2025.
Now in its third year, the nighttime race attracted runners looking for a unique experience. The university’s team—comprised of four Turkish students, one from the Philippines, and a colleague from the International Relations Office—ran the 5 km course that began at 21:40 from the Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan.
The route wound through Tokaj’s historic town center and alongside the Bodrog and Tisza rivers, all illuminated with special lighting that created an unforgettable atmosphere.
While the team didn’t place, the experience offered lasting memories and strengthened the sense of community among international students. Nyíregyházi University considers active participation in regional sports and cultural events an essential part of student life—and plans to continue this tradition in future Tokaj runs.
