Hungary is witnessing a steady rise in active and nature-based tourism, says Zoltán Szekér, Sales Director at the Active and Ecotourism Development Center and a graduate of the Tourism Development Manager/Economist programme at Corvinus University of Budapest. He attributes the shift to a growing global preference for eco-conscious and adventure-focused travel.
“More people want to connect with nature and explore responsibly,” Szekér explained. “Though we lack the Alps, Hungary’s natural beauty can be harnessed in innovative ways.”
He pointed to the centre’s “Active Adventurer” initiative, which features domestic hiking routes, rentable sports equipment, and eco-friendly lodging.
Corvinus University of Budapest has entered into a formal partnership with the center, allowing students to co-develop tourism products and gain practical experience. Szekér, who transitioned from sports to tourism, emphasized how the programme equipped him with structured industry knowledge and lasting professional connections.
The weekend-format course is tailored for professionals and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
