Obuda University has entered into a new strategic partnership with the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation (KazNUWMI) to advance collaboration in water management, green technologies, and sustainable infrastructure.
The agreement was signed on 26 June by Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University, and Kamshat Maratovna Tussupova, Rector of KazNUWMI, at a ceremony aimed at strengthening scientific, educational, and research ties between the two institutions.
Under the partnership, the universities will jointly develop digital education programmes, launch mobility schemes for students and professionals, and organise short-term training initiatives such as summer universities and thematic academies. Plans also include establishing joint or double-degree programmes spanning undergraduate to doctoral levels.
A major focus will be on collaborative research and innovation projects in water management and smart green technologies. The agreement further paves the way for supporting startup ventures through joint innovation hubs and incubation programmes that could offer seed funding for promising student and faculty projects.
A key feature of the cooperation is the establishment of an Obuda University representative office at KazNUWMI, aimed at coordinating joint initiatives and providing local support services.
Founded in 2024 in Taraz, KazNUWMI specializes in training engineers in water management, land reclamation, construction, and energy, continuing the legacy of the former Zhambyl Institute of Hydromelioration and Construction. The university places strong emphasis on sustainable practices and modern, environmentally friendly solutions.
The partnership is expected to not only deepen academic cooperation but also contribute to technological innovation and sustainable development in both countries.
