A team of four undergraduate students from Corvinus University of Budapest proudly represented Hungary at the Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition (CIBCC) in Bangkok and HuaHin, Thailand, earning a divisional fourth-place finish against top global universities.
Between May 19 and 23, students Alexandra Pongrácz, Csenge Balogh, Henrik Szalay, and Norbert Stósz, guided by mentor Dr. Miklós Stocker, competed in intense 8-hour and 24-hour case rounds. They tackled real-world business challenges, crafting a marketing strategy for Phyathai Hospital Group and developing an expansion plan for TOA Paint into Vietnam.
The Corvinus team focused heavily on team dynamics, dividing tasks by strengths and fostering mutual trust and camaraderie. “Our teamwork was professional and fun at the same time,” said Norbert Stósz, while Alexandra Pongrácz highlighted the “gold” of being in a team where everyone could truly rely on each other.
Judges praised their deep, realistic analysis, with feedback that their case understanding felt like “they had been working at the company for years.” Although the team ultimately placed behind powerhouse RSM, who secured their fourth global victory, they left the competition proud of their growth and international experience.
Special thanks were extended to the Case Track instructors, practice jury members, and CCTC mentors who helped prepare the team. The competition not only tested their strategic skills under pressure but also offered invaluable global networking and personal development.
