High school applicants across Hungary learned the results of their higher education applications, revealing whether they secured a place at their chosen institutions. While many future university students anxiously await the outcome, intense preparations are underway at universities to finalize admission thresholds, available programs, and intake numbers. Experts are also determining which courses will be open during the upcoming supplementary admission period.
“Plan B for Wednesday” is the advice from Dr. Enikő Pásztor, Vice-Rector for Education at Sopron University. She reassures applicants that even if they were not admitted to any of their initially chosen programs, they need not lose hope. The supplementary admission process offers a second chance to enroll at the university starting this September. Detailed information on available courses and conditions for application will be published on Sopron University’s official channels by the end of July.
Prospective students can expect to apply to a wide range of faculties, including agriculture, engineering, information technology, economics, arts, pedagogy, sports sciences, and social sciences. The Lámfalussy Sándor Faculty of Economics offers tuition-supported scholarships for self-financing students. The Forestry Faculty is also expected to announce supplementary admission opportunities in early August, providing chances to enter some of the country’s unique programs. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries appeals not only to those interested in technical sciences but also to creative professionals with its higher education offerings in art, graphic design, and industrial design.
It is important to note that only those who either did not apply to the general admission round or applied but were not admitted to any program may participate in the supplementary admission. Applicants may only select one program during this process. Students admitted to a lower-preference choice in the general admission are not eligible to switch programs via supplementary admission but must wait for the next mid-year admission round.
On the evening of July 23, prospective students can visit the Sopron University stand at the GyIK Rendezvényház Pont Ott Party to learn directly from current students about university programs.
Applications for supplementary admission will be submitted through the official platforms, felvi.hu and E-felvételi, just like in the general admission process.
Beyond undergraduate admissions, Sopron University also offers specialized postgraduate courses across its faculties. The Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy provides excellent opportunities for teachers seeking further qualifications, while forestry, wood industry, and management professionals can also enhance their skills at Hungary’s Green University.
