The John von Neumann University (NJE) provided an unforgettable summer experience for students and faculty from China’s Bengbu University, combining academic exploration, cultural immersion, and recreational activities to deepen their understanding of Hungarian heritage.
The program began with a grand tour of Budapest, showcasing iconic landmarks such as the Parliament and Fisherman’s Bastion, followed by an introduction to their host city, Kecskemét, including a private visit to the historic City Hall and local attractions. A focused campus tour then gave participants firsthand insight into NJE’s modern facilities and innovative laboratories.
Throughout the week, students explored Hungarian culture and traditions. They enjoyed hands-on workshops, including coffee brewing and bread-making, and toured the Univer Product Zrt. factory, famous for Hungarian spices. A family winery wine-tasting and a goulash cooking session offered authentic flavors of Hungary. The cultural journey continued with a visit to the Leskowsky Musical Instrument Collection, an interactive folk dance performance, and a captivating horse show.
Adventure and teamwork were key highlights, featuring thrilling dragon boating and a challenging escape room experience. The visit to Hungarikum Liget and a stunning planetarium trip further enriched their knowledge of Hungary’s values and innovations.
The Neumann Summer University was more than a series of events—it was a transformative journey filled with new experiences, laughter, and lasting memories, perfectly blending educational insights with cultural discovery. NJE looks forward to welcoming the next group of students and making next year’s program even better!
