Anezka Nejedlova, a graduate of the Faculty of Education at the Technical University of Liberec (TUL), won the Czech Envi Thesis competition for her research on how 5th-grade students perceive the Cesky Raj landscape. Her work applied the innovative “sense of place” concept, showing that field-based learning strengthens children’s connection to their environment and encourages pro-environmental behavior.
Nejedlova conducted extensive field research in 17 schools, using interviews, student texts, and surveys to gather data. Her findings emphasize that direct experiences in nature foster students’ attachment to their local region and the broader environment.
The project, guided by Dr. Dominik Rubáš, contributes to pedagogical practice and environmental education, with results presented at conferences and in academic publications.
