The Scorpio team from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology has secured second place overall at the Anatolian Rover Challenge in Turkey, earning additional awards for “Panel Manipulation” and “Electronics”.
The competition, hosted by the Space Exploration Society (UKET) at the Middle East Technical University, saw 26 teams from seven countries take part in Mars and Moon mission simulations. Events included autonomous navigation, night operations, scientific tasks, and a new collaborative mission requiring multiple rovers to work together.
Team leader Weronika Stanisławek said the result reflected strong preparation, despite a setback during the autonomous challenge. “Our rover performed flawlessly in tests before and after, but during the event the autonomy failed unexpectedly — even the judges were surprised,” she explained.
The team’s innovative robotic arm impressed in other tasks, helping secure their podium finish. The Legendary team from Rzeszów University of Technology won first place, while UIU Mars Rover Team from Bangladesh finished third.
This marks the end of Scorpio’s competition season, continuing their strong track record at international rover events.
