Jyväskylä – The University of Jyvaskyla is once again in the global spotlight as its renowned Jyväskylä Summer School brings together hundreds of students from around the world from August 7 to 15, 2025, for intensive academic training in STEM fields. As the largest and oldest summer school in Finland, the program offers a unique opportunity to develop scientific expertise, build international networks, and experience Finnish culture during the summer.
Now in its 34th year, the Jyväskylä Summer School offers 24 multidisciplinary courses, five more than the previous year, with key themes including quantum physics, probability theory, and secure and intelligent technologies. Courses are taught by internationally recognized experts and are aimed at preparing participants for careers in both academic and non-academic sectors.
“This summer school supports academic development, cross-cultural understanding, and creates connections that last far beyond the classroom,” said Jani Moilanen, Chair of the Summer School.
The program also benefits local students, offering “internationalisation at home” and enhancing global skills without the need to travel. About one-third of the participants are from the University of Jyväskylä itself.
This year’s summer school coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, a milestone highlighting decades of excellence in research and education. The event not only boosts Jyväskylä’s visibility but also strengthens its position as a leading institution for international education and scientific exchange.
