Frederiksberg, August 20, 2025 — In celebration of what would have been the 90th birthday of Danish accordion pioneer Mogens Ellegaard, a special lecture will be held at the Royal Danish Academy of Music (DKDM) on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 18:00 to 19:00. The venue is Ny Sal, located at Rosenørns Allé 22, 1970 Frederiksberg C. Admission is free.
The lecture, titled “Mogens Ellegaard’s artistic activity as a determining factor of the 20th century accordion literature development. Interpretation and performance issues in the works of Vagn Holmboe, Torbjörn Lundquist, Arne Nordheim, Per Nørgård and Ole Schmidt”, will be delivered by Dr. Grzegorz Palus of Warsaw. The event will explore Ellegaard’s influential role in shaping 20th-century accordion literature and delve into interpretation and performance issues in works by major Nordic composers.
Follow-up Concert
Immediately following the lecture, from 19:30 to 21:30, a chamber concert featuring accordionists Geir Draugsvoll and James Crabb will take place at the same venue, offering a musical complement to the scholarly talk.
