Met Éireann forecaster Paul O’Reilly has said that Ireland can expect a brief spell of warm weather early next week, with Monday and Tuesday likely to be the warmest days and a chance of conditions lasting into Wednesday. While the warmth will be short-lived, O’Reilly noted that weather models indicate a better chance of high pressure returning around August 17–18, potentially bringing more settled and warm conditions before the month ends.
This weekend will bring a mix of sunshine and showers, with rain mostly affecting the north and west on Friday before clearing to leave a pleasant evening nationwide. Rain and breezy conditions will move into Ulster and Connacht on Friday night, clearing southwards on Saturday morning. Sunny spells will follow in the afternoon, with highs of 16–21°C, and a mostly dry Saturday evening.
Sunday will begin sunny for many, especially in the north and east, before cloud from the southwest brings patchy rain later in the day. It will be warm and humid, with temperatures reaching up to 21°C.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to see the peak of the warm spell, although Met Éireann has warned of the risk of heavy or thundery downpours among the sunshine. From Wednesday onwards, a fresher Atlantic air mass is forecast to move in, bringing cooler and more unsettled conditions.
