A successful training program addressing violence and vulnerability among preschool children is now being adapted for primary schools through a collaboration between Barnafrid, the national knowledge center at Linköping University, and Haninge Municipality.
The new program will focus on issues such as digital exploitation, violence in young people’s romantic relationships, threats or violence towards teachers, gang criminality, and honor-related violence. Like the preschool program, it will be structured around themed modules, using real-life cases, films, discussions, exercises, and roleplay to equip educators with practical skills.
The preschool version, launched in April 2024, led to a 130 percent increase in concern reports from staff and has since been adopted by several other municipalities. The primary school adaptation will be developed during autumn 2025, piloted in Haninge in 2026, and potentially expanded to other municipalities before a nationwide rollout. The initiative is funded by the Swedish National Agency for Education.
