
On the occasion of Hungary’s national holiday on August 20, several lecturers from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music were honored with prestigious state awards at a ceremony held in Pesti Vigadó. The awards were presented by Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, alongside state secretaries for higher education, culture, and cultural relations.
Gábor Horváth, choirmaster, conductor, and associate professor, along with Andor Végh, folk artist and instrument maker, received the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, Civil Division.
The Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit, Civil Division, was awarded to Péter Kubina, double bass player and associate professor; Dániel Lipták, folk music teacher and musicologist; and József Németh, clarinetist and lecturer.
The recognition highlights the outstanding contributions of these musicians and educators to Hungarian cultural life, music education, and the preservation of traditions.
