Researchers from the University of Copenhagen have mapped the genomes of Greenlandic sled dogs, uncovering evidence that the Inuit arrived in Greenland several hundred years earlier than previously believed. The study, published in Science, reveals how sled dog genetics can trace human migration, population splits, and historical changes in dog populations. The findings also highlight the current threats to sled dogs due to climate change and snowmobile use.
