University College Dublin (UCD) has signed a global partnership in veterinary medicine with Kansas State University and Iowa State University, aiming to strengthen academic exchange and advance research collaboration between Ireland and the United States.
The agreement was formalized at NovaUCD, UCD’s hub for start-up and innovation activities, during the One Health Ag Tech Summit, hosted by Enterprise Ireland. The summit brought together researchers, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss precision farming, digital agriculture, and global health challenges.
The new partnership will focus on faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, coordinated teaching activities, and shared expertise in areas such as antimicrobial resistance, animal health, and agricultural innovation. It builds on existing collaborations and is expected to expand opportunities for students, researchers, and industry partners while advancing solutions to global veterinary and agricultural challenges.
UCD President Professor Orla Feely said, “This agreement is the culmination of highly valued collaborative efforts from all institutions involved to further enhance the educational experience for our students.” Professor Beth Davis, interim dean of Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, added, “This partnership will provide tremendous value to our College of Veterinary Medicine.”
The visit by the US delegation coincided with the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, highlighting the broader ties between Ireland and the United States in education and research.
