Christian Trapp, former Professor at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, has joined Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) to focus on sustainable propulsion systems, hybrid engines, and resilient energy systems. Trapp brings extensive experience in combustion engines, thermodynamics, and energy systems, having worked with Bosch, Ricardo Engineering, and Jenbacher on projects ranging from automotive engines to large power generation systems.
At TU Graz, Trapp aims to integrate research with practical applications, collaborating with the Large Engines Competence Center (LEC) and HyCentA to develop efficient, sustainable, and resource-conscious propulsion technologies. He emphasizes the importance of training young engineers, promoting gender balance, and combining AI and IT with mechanical and electrical engineering to drive innovation in Europe’s mobility and energy sectors.
