
Zoltán Heinemann, honorary professor (Dr. Honoris Causa) of Miskolci Egyetem, has passed away at the age of 85. A globally recognized expert in reservoir physics, Heinemann began his academic path at the university’s predecessor, the Nehézipari Műszaki Egyetem, earning his distinguished oil engineering degree in 1962.
He went on to build a decades-long career bridging industry and education, most notably at the University of Leoben, where he led the Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas from 1988 to 2005. His academic journey included a PhD in 1967 and a candidate degree in 1973, followed by his honorary doctorate from Miskolc in 1997.
Even after retirement, he stayed close to his field and students, remembered as a mentor, leader, and internationally respected scholar.
