When leading minds in healthcare from across Europe and beyond arrived at the University of Szeged, it wasn’t just for another academic conference — it was to be part of something new. From May 29 to 31, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies hosted the 1st International Health Sciences Conference, bringing together professionals, researchers, and students from six different countries for an event that combined tradition, innovation, and ambition.
The goal? To spark global conversations around the future of healthcare — from cutting-edge medical science to EU-level health policy, from physiotherapy research to pharmaceutical innovation. But what made this gathering truly stand out was its spirit. It wasn’t just a series of talks. It was a platform for young researchers to present, for senior scientists to collaborate, and for institutions to imagine new partnerships.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Innovation and held under the honorary patronage of Hungary’s Minister for EU Affairs, the conference also reflected a broader shift in Europe — a recognition that healthcare isn’t just national policy anymore, it’s a global conversation.
From panel discussions to poster sessions, from personal stories of past Nobel laureates to bold plans for the future, the University of Szeged used this moment to remind the academic world of one thing: it’s ready to lead.
