
SZEGED – The University of Szeged (SZTE) has climbed 115 places in the 2025 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), now ranked 590th globally, placing it among the top 2.8% of universities worldwide out of nearly 21,500 institutions evaluated.
SZTE stood out especially for its faculty excellence, earning 117th place globally in this category – the highest among all Hungarian universities.
The CWUR rankings assess universities based on education quality, alumni employability, faculty distinction, research output, citation impact, and patents. This year, seven Hungarian universities made it to the global top 2,000 list, with SZTE standing shoulder to shoulder with prestigious institutions such as the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science (USA), Bocconi University (Italy), and the University of Oviedo (Spain).
The top three global spots are held by Harvard, MIT, and Stanford, followed by Cambridge and Oxford.
