A new initiative aimed at fostering collaboration and supporting early-career scientists has officially launched at the University of Pannonia. The Young Researchers’ Community (FKK) was established on May 30, 2025, with the participation of nearly 30 researchers under the age of 45. The formation of this group aligns with the mission and spirit of the Hungarian Academy of Young Researchers (FKA).
The inaugural workshop opened with greetings from Dr. Mihály Pósfai, Head of the University’s Scientific Excellence Network, and Rector Dr. János Abonyi, who emphasized the importance of grassroots communities within academic institutions. He encouraged young researchers to actively engage in university-level decision-making processes and highlighted the university’s commitment to creating a transparent academic career path.
The event continued with a keynote by Tamás Ruppert, board member of FKA, who introduced the academy’s work and objectives. A collaborative discussion followed, led by FKA member László Koók, where participants outlined key goals for the new community:
- Building an active, supportive network through joint programs and workshops
- Strengthening the role and continuity of PhD researchers
- Launching an internal survey to assess the most pressing needs of young researchers at the university
The FKK also expressed the importance of having representation in all major university committees, ensuring young researchers have a voice and are kept informed.
Details about the community’s leadership and mission will soon be available on the university’s Scientific Excellence Network website. With additional enthusiastic young colleagues joining, the FKK is set to shape the future of research culture at the University of Pannonia.
