Alma Mater Europaea University and the Taraz International University named after Sherkan Murtaza have signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen educational and research ties in Central Asia. The agreement was formalised in Ljubljana and aims to foster intercultural, academic, and scientific collaboration between the two institutions.
Under the memorandum, the universities plan to develop joint projects, facilitate student and faculty exchanges, and promote research initiatives across various disciplines. The partnership will also involve joint academic events such as conferences, lectures, short courses, seminars, and symposia, as well as the exchange of publications, academic materials, and the organisation of specialised short-term academic programmes.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barbara Toplak Perovič, Secretary General of Alma Mater Europaea and Dean of the ECM Faculty, emphasised the strategic importance of the agreement: “By partnering with the Taraz International University, we are expanding our presence and influence in Central Asia. This memorandum opens new opportunities for knowledge exchange and cultural understanding, benefiting both students and researchers while fostering deeper cooperation in a region of strategic significance to the European and global academic network.”
Yerbolat Baiuzakuly Saurykov from Taraz International University highlighted the mutual benefits: “This cooperation opens new possibilities for developing education and research. Together, we will create a dynamic academic network that contributes to the development of both our universities and regions.”
The initiative aligns with broader bilateral efforts, as the Presidents of Slovenia and Kazakhstan recently signed a memorandum of cooperation to enhance ties in the fields of economy, science, education, and sustainable development.
