Sopron University recently hosted the launch of “A remény pedagógiája” (The Pedagogy of Hope) by Prof. Dr. István Lükő, retired university professor and a key figure in Hungarian environmental education. The book explores the evolving role of environmental pedagogy and its importance in shaping a sustainable future through education.
Held at the university’s Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy, the event emphasized that teaching is more than knowledge transfer — it’s about believing in a better future. Speakers, including Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Fábián and Rector Emeritus Prof. Dr. Sándor Faragó, praised Prof. Lükő’s lifelong dedication to environmental awareness and his pioneering role in founding Hungary’s first environmental pedagogy workshop.
The book offers insights into over 50 years of academic and teaching experience, advocating for environmental education as a bridge between universities and a tool to tackle global challenges. Experts, including Prof. Dr. Katalin Kéri, described the book as a comprehensive guide for educators seeking effective models in today’s rapidly evolving learning environments.
The publication is available online in both print and e-book formats.
