Anna Vanluchene from University of Chemistry and Technology Prague has secured a prestigious start-up grant after two years and ten project revisions, highlighting persistence in scientific research. Her project, Illuminating Flow, focuses on combining photocatalysis with flow reactors to create more sustainable methods for producing pharmaceutical chemicals. The research aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and limit dependence on imports by enabling greener, more efficient chemical production processes.Vanluchene emphasized that perseverance is key in research funding, noting that repeated applications and learning from rejection are essential for success. Her work also integrates international experience and collaboration, contributing to innovation in chemical engineering and industrial applications.
