
The Catholic University of Portugal hosted the 2026 European Learning and Teaching Forum in Lisbon, bringing together around 300 higher education experts from 42 countries to discuss the future of universities. The event was organized by the European University Association and focused on challenges such as artificial intelligence, demographic change, and evolving labor markets.
During the opening session, Rector Isabel Capeloa Gil emphasized the need to view universities as spaces of experimentation, collaboration, and co creation of knowledge. Discussions over two days addressed innovation in teaching, academic careers, sustainable pedagogy, digital literacy, and European university cooperation, reinforcing the role of higher education institutions in shaping society.
