At the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), two nursing students, Inês Pires Moreira and Carolina Costa, showcase how different life paths can converge in a shared vocation of care.
Inês, who graduated in Nursing in 2023 and completed a postgraduate degree in Sports Nursing in 2025 at the School of Nursing (Porto), now works with Futebol Clube do Porto and Futebol Clube da Foz. She highlights that nursing is more than procedures: it is presence, sensitivity, and purpose. “There is room in nursing for all dreams, even those that seem unconventional,” she notes.
Carolina, a finalist in Nursing and also a high-competition athlete, has balanced international competitions with rigorous academic demands. She says this experience has shaped her identity as a nurse, teaching her discipline, resilience, and balance. Representing UCP in international sporting events was, for her, a source of pride.
Despite their different journeys, both students agree that nursing is a transformative profession, requiring dedication, authenticity, and passion — qualities that not only shape those who practice it but also those who receive its care.
