Dr. Adrián Fábián officially received his appointment as the incoming Rector of the University of Pécs during a formal ceremony at Sándor Palace. The Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation, which oversees the University of Pécs, submitted Dr. Fábián’s nomination to the President of the Republic through the responsible minister, following the ranking established by the PTE Senate. He will officially assume the role on July 1, 2026, upon the completion of Dr. Attila Miseta’s current mandate.
Dr. Fábián, former Dean of the PTE Faculty of Law, outlined his vision to transform PTE into a scientific, innovation, and economic hub for the region south of Lake Balaton. He highlighted the importance of internal cohesion, transparent resource distribution, and coordinated operations as the foundation for development.
His program emphasizes the resolution of functional and financing challenges, regular strategic consultations, and fair recognition for all job roles. Dr. Fábián stressed that only with transparent and equitable institutional decisions can the university community function as a true academic community.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for Hungarian higher education, reinforcing the University of Pécs’ commitment to excellence, innovation, and regional development.
