A joint project between the Technical University of Denmark, DFDS, and partner universities has developed mathematical models and digital tools to optimize Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ship loading. The solution improves weight distribution, reduces ballast water use, lowers fuel consumption, and enhances sustainability in maritime freight. The project also spawned a startup, VizTrack, which provides trailer identification software for ports. Ongoing research will integrate artificial intelligence to further streamline loading and unloading operations.
