The 2025 national finals of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) were successfully held not only in Hungary but also across the 12 countries that form Edutus University’s Central and Eastern European partner network. This year marked unprecedented growth in participation and organizational reach.
Following the early success reports from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Montenegro, Edutus University teams continued their tour to support national events in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Croatia.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 41 teams competed in two categories at the Arena Husejin Smajlović Zenica, including the joint Future Engineers challenge organized with Montenegro.
In Poland, the national final was held in Lublin with a record 58 teams—an 81% increase over 2024—making it the fastest-growing country in the network. Five teams qualified for the World Final in Singapore, while eight will participate in the Slovenian Open Championship.
Czech Republic also saw nearly 70% growth. A successful spring workshop by Edutus staff helped attract new participants. Kiddum and Park Lane International School supported team recruitment and event coordination.
In Serbia, the finals took place in Zenta with 70 teams and several high-level guests in attendance. For the first time, a Future Engineers showcase was held alongside the regular categories.
Slovenia hosted its national final in Šoštanj as a test run for organizing the European Open Championship. RoboMission, Future Innovators, and RoboSports competitions attracted strong participation and enthusiasm.
Slovakia held two regional qualifiers in Košice and Banská Bystrica, resulting in 76 RoboMission teams—17 more than the previous year. Thirty teams advanced to the national final, and for the first time, four Future Innovators teams joined the competition.
The final national event concluded in Croatia on June 14 in Samobor, featuring 72 teams and over 200 participants. All WRO categories were represented, including the KIDS category for the youngest competitors.
Throughout the season, Edutus University supported local organizers with both professional and logistical expertise. Hungarian judges and coordinators ensured high standards and smooth operations in every country.
The 2025 WRO season continues, promising even more exciting regional developments.
