At Eötvös József College (EJF), the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year centered on nurturing talent. The college’s Miskolczy College for Advanced Studies and its Scientific Students’ Association Council organized a rich program of workshops, lectures, preparatory courses, and community events to promote academic and personal growth.
Special emphasis was placed on preparing students for the National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (OTDK) and encouraging participation in scientific and artistic competitions. The semester began with a lively carnival dance evening, followed by a Scientific Students’ Day, workshops for high school students, and self-awareness training. Later events included a regional poetry contest, a lecture on talent support systems, and a special literature class with writer Krisztina Tóth.
EJF students achieved outstanding results at various competitions. At the Kárpátok Alatt poetry contest, teacher education student Csenge Égi earned a gold rating, while Virág Vankó received silver. At the Ötágú Síp Carpathian Basin contest in Budapest, multiple students won bronze and silver in poetry and essay writing. The college also celebrated Karolina Olenyik, who took first place in the learning and teaching methods section at the 37th OTDK with her paper on vocabulary development in preschool children.
The semester concluded with an event on June 20 to thank faculty and staff who supported the students, as well as the students themselves for their dedication.
This talent development program was supported by the project titled “Methodological Paradigm Shift in EJF’s Scientific Students’ Association Activities” (NTP-HHTDK-24-0057).
