Eötvös József College’s Institute of Nationalities and Foreign Languages held its 32nd Summer Academy, offering professional development for teachers and students specializing in German, Croatian, and English language and cultural education.
The two-day event, hosted on campus in Baja, brought together preschool and primary educators as well as university students. In her opening remarks, Rector Dr. Szilágyiné Dr. Szinger Ibolya emphasized the importance of pedagogical renewal and nurturing national identities through education.
The keynote was delivered by Englender-Virth Petra from the Hungarian German Pedagogical and Methodological Center, exploring bilingual education in a European context. Workshops and interactive sessions followed, with separate sections for German and Croatian language teachers and for English language educators. Topics ranged from using artificial intelligence and digital tools in language learning, to enhancing identity awareness and sharing practical classroom strategies.
The program also welcomed six students and their mentors from Zagreb, Croatia, who not only joined the academy sessions but also learned about the college itself.
Each year, the Summer Academy strengthens professional networks and supports educators in delivering modern, engaging, and identity-conscious teaching. Organizers thanked all speakers and participants and look forward to welcoming them again next year.
