Budapest Business University (BGE) is set to welcome 6,200 new students this September—marking a nearly 20% increase in admissions compared to last year. This surge confirms BGE’s position as Hungary’s largest business-focused university and one of the country’s top five higher education institutions by student numbers.
Interest in the university’s bachelor’s and master’s programs soared during the 2025 application cycle, with record-high numbers of first-choice applicants. On business-related courses alone, 5,000 students secured admission—meaning that every fourth student accepted in Hungary to a business program will study at BGE.
Admission thresholds also rose significantly: on all business programs, a minimum of 400 points was required for state-funded places, making BGE one of the most competitive institutions in the field.
Additional figures:
- 540 students admitted to social science programs
- 420 students to business informatics
- 240 students to humanities and teacher training programs
Interest in master’s degrees at BGE has also spiked, with over 800 graduate students set to begin their studies—many of whom completed their bachelor’s at BGE and chose to stay for further education. However, the university did not launch any short-cycle higher education programs this year.
With a student body of around 20,000, Budapest Business University continues to lead the Hungarian higher education market in business studies, offering a modernized curriculum and student-centered innovations across all programs.
