Copenhagen, August 13, 2025 — The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts invites the public to a special guided tour on August 13, 2025, offering a unique opportunity to explore the rich artistic and historical legacy of Charlottenborg Palace.
Located between Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn, Charlottenborg Palace has been a cultural and artistic hub since the 1670s. During this 60-minute tour, participants will discover both iconic and lesser-known parts of the historic building, including the Academy’s grand ceremonial hall, the former residence of sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, and the remnants of Copenhagen’s first botanical garden — now the Sculpture Garden, home to the Academy’s sculpture school.
The tour will be led by author, PhD, and museum curator Jens Tang Kristensen, who brings extensive experience in art history and education. Attendees will gain insight into the everyday workings of a living art institution, where current students continue Denmark’s legacy of artistic innovation.
