Three buildings at the Szent István Campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) have been renovated under Hungary’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRF-2.1.2-21). With contributions from MATE, the Wildlife and Nature Conservation Institute’s facilities— including the Wildlife Biology and Management Department, the Fábián Gyula Educational Building, and the Nature Conservation and Landscape Management Department—received modern upgrades such as external insulation, LED lighting, new windows, energy-efficient systems, and student-friendly outdoor spaces.
The inauguration event, hosted by Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza and Institute Director Dr. Miklós Heltai, featured state secretaries and national leaders in wildlife conservation. The event also honored pioneering professionals, including Gyula Fábián, István Bertóti, and István Heltay, whose work shaped Hungary’s world-class wildlife education.
The celebration concluded with a concert by Kossuth Prize-winning performer Mika Heinczinger.
