The University of Sopron recently celebrated the first international peer helpers, who completed a specialized training program and received official adult education certificates. The 11 graduates, from countries including Kazakhstan, Syria, Peru, Saint Lucia, Nigeria, Morocco, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and the Dominican Republic, learned peer support skills from clinical psychologists, intercultural experts, educators, and mental health professionals. These peer helpers act as bridges within the university community, supporting fellow students, facilitating integration, and connecting them to university resources. The program, initiated by the StudentHelp initiative of the university’s Foreign Affairs Group, emphasizes fostering a culture of care, support, and intercultural understanding.
