Ahead of Finland’s Friendship Day, an event called Meet People & Integrate 2.0 brought together international degree students to connect, share cultural experiences, and celebrate community. Activities included a dessert potluck, cultural stalls, a best-dressed competition, a multicultural quiz, and icebreaker bingo, all aimed at helping participants meet new people and integrate into local life.
The event was supported by a podcast series on student integration, providing guidance on leadership, student support services, equality, and wellbeing. Finnish language instructors highlighted the importance of creating welcoming spaces where students from diverse backgrounds can interact.
Participants praised the event’s open and inclusive atmosphere, noting that sharing food, games, and cultural experiences fostered meaningful connections and a sense of belonging. Organizers emphasized that such activities help international students feel part of the wider community while enhancing cross-cultural understanding.
