Following the approval of the statutes of the Students Council of the U!REKA European University, the first official meeting of this governing body was held during U!REKA Connects 2024. The council aims to represent students in the activities of the European University Alliance.
Susana Campos, a student from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) at the Polytechnic University of Lisbon (IPL), was elected vice-president of the Students Council. Frantisek Franz, representing the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, assumed the position of president. Other student representatives, including Martin Václavík from VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and Sukhpreet Singh from HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts, joined the Steering Committee.
Susana Campos highlighted the significance of this election: “Holding a management position on this U!REKA body reflects the trust placed in IPL by the European student community. Being represented in these initiatives allows us to develop a unifying European perspective and contribute insights to improve the alliance’s direction. Learning from other students equips us to train more skilled professionals.”
Over the next four years, the Student Council will encourage active student participation in U!REKA’s programs and initiatives, fostering collaboration and engagement across the European Alliance.
