Swedish-American astronaut and honorary doctor at Luleå University of Technology, Jessica Meir, has returned to space as part of NASA and SpaceX’s Crew 12 mission. This marks her second long-duration stay aboard the International Space Station, planned for approximately eight months.
The multinational crew includes NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Russian cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. The team will conduct experiments in microgravity and continue technology demonstrations critical for future space exploration.
Meir first made history in 2019 as the first Swedish woman in space, spending 205 days on the ISS. Her return highlights the contributions of Luleå University of Technology to international research and collaboration in space science.
