Professor Lisa Dellmuth has been awarded European Research Council funding to lead a new research project examining the growing public support for protectionism worldwide. Based at the Department of Economic History and International Relations at Stockholm University, the project explores why citizens back protectionist policies despite their potential economic costs.
The project, Protectionism in Place, investigates how local economic, socio-cultural, and environmental changes shape attitudes toward trade barriers, subsidies, and migration restrictions. It also includes two upcoming postdoctoral positions focusing on machine learning and survey methods.
