Márta Molnár Fodorné, rector of the Hungarian University of Dance (MTE), assumed the role of president of the Rectors’ Chair of the Universities of the Arts (MERSZ) for a two-year term. She took over the position from Prof. Dr. Enikő Sepsi, rector of the University of Theatre and Film, during a formal handover ceremony.
MERSZ, established in 1991, is a joint forum of five Hungarian higher education art institutions: the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, MTE, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art, and the University of Theatre and Film. The forum coordinates professional issues in higher art education, protects institutional autonomy, and represents collective positions at the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, where the MERSZ president serves as a member.
In her remarks, Márta Fodorné Molnár emphasized that art education is both a cultural mission and a pillar of national identity. She highlighted the importance of raising the voices of art universities in policymaking and expressed her commitment to continue close cooperation among member institutions. She also thanked Prof. Dr. Enikő Sepsi for her work and the rectors present for constructive discussions during the ceremony.
