Masaryk University (MU), together with Brno University of Technology (VUT) and the South Moravian Region, presented over twenty investment and non-investment projects worth billions of Czech crowns at a joint event held at the VIDA! Science Park. The initiative aims to inform suppliers, architects, and construction firms about upcoming tenders, increase transparency, and prepare participants for public procurement.
Key projects at MU include the Center for Surgical Anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine in the Bohunice campus, expansion of the Archaeological Station of the Faculty of Arts in Těšetice, new doctoral spaces at the Faculty of Law, and outdoor classrooms at the Faculty of Education. Renovation plans also cover the rectorate building on Komenského Square, including a modernized reception and barrier-free access.
The university also plans public tenders for design work and interior supply, notably for the Faculty of Informatics. These tenders are expected to be announced from February to September 2026, with construction taking place between 2026 and 2029. Investment sizes range from hundreds of millions to several billion crowns.
MU is also investing heavily in student housing. Two major projects will add more than 1,500 beds across the Vinařská campus and Bohunice University campus. Plans include twelve-story buildings, apartments, underground garages, landscaping, and accessible student accommodation. Construction at Vinařská will begin in June 2027, with all new buildings expected to be completed by December 2029.
The South Moravian Region presented 103 projects worth 5 billion crowns, while VUT detailed reconstruction, modernization, and expansion investments totaling 750 million crowns.
