
Magyar Agrár- és Élettudományi Egyetem held the inaugural ceremony for the international Antropocén Awards, launched in 2025. The awards recognize researchers whose work in agriculture, climate and life sciences, and sustainability has impact beyond academia, promoting climate resilience and human well-being.Dr. Gyuricza Csaba, Rector of MATE, emphasized the importance of translating scientific breakthroughs into practical solutions for global challenges.Awardees:Dr. Klaus Butterbach-Bahl – Antropocén Life Achievement Award, for research on agriculture, soil nutrient cycles, sustainable water management, and greenhouse gas mitigation.Dr. Dennis Beesigamukama – Antropocén Young Researcher Award, for studies on insect-mediated organic waste recycling and soil health.Dr. Rahul R. Nair – Antropocén Inspiring Researcher Award, for work on 2D materials (e.g., graphene) for precision water filtration, industrial gas separation, and sustainable energy applications.The laureates presented their research and academic paths, offering in-depth insights during their visit to Hungary.
