Gödöllő – June 19, 2025 | The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) has once again secured its place among the world’s top universities, ranking 6th among Hungarian institutions featured in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
This year, QS analysts evaluated 8,467 institutions, of which 1,501 made the final list. Despite the intensified competition—due to nearly 1.5 times more institutions being assessed than last year—MATE maintained its position among Hungary’s top ten universities, reflecting continued progress in international reputation and sustainability performance.
According to Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza, MATE has undergone a significant transformation since its 2021 founding, with recent improvements clearly visible in research metrics, international student interest, and an expanding global academic network.
The university also attributes its growing international score to its broad academic and corporate partnerships, which contribute heavily to its global reputation score—making up 45% of the overall QS evaluation. Recent strategic shifts toward research-led teaching and sustainability-focused practices have further bolstered the institution’s standing.
MATE’s consistent performance in multiple global rankings confirms its growing influence in the international academic community. The university continues to prioritise scientific excellence, global cooperation, and sustainable development as key pillars of its mission.
