The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) has announced the relaunch of its highly sought-after adult training program, “Basic Storage Knowledge of Bulk Agricultural Crops,” offering industry professionals practical, market-relevant expertise in modern grain storage. Organized by MATE’s Adult Education and Advisory Centre, the course aims to provide immediately applicable theoretical and hands-on knowledge to help agricultural producers, processors, traders, and logistics specialists maintain crop quality, reduce losses, and improve overall operational efficiency.
The program has already proven its relevance: when first launched in 2025, it received significant over-subscription and strong professional feedback. Building on that success, MATE is once again offering the course in 2026, maintaining its industry-driven, practice-oriented approach developed in cooperation with key market partners.
In today’s agricultural environment—marked by climate extremes, tightening regulations, and evolving market expectations—grain storage has become a critical area of quality assurance and risk management. The training was developed in collaboration with leading sector stakeholders, including the Hungarian Grain Association, Adony Logistics Centre Ltd., Dunagabona Ltd., and MERTCONTROL HUNGARY Ltd., ensuring that the curriculum reflects real-world technological solutions and regulatory requirements.
Participants will gain comprehensive insight into the biological, physical, and technological foundations of bulk crop storage, including the prevention of quality deterioration, monitoring techniques, warehouse documentation practices, and the legal framework governing storage operations. The curriculum also covers key technical processes such as cleaning, drying, cooling, fumigation, disinfection, and separation, alongside sampling principles and common storage problem management.
The two-day program combines classroom-based theoretical instruction with practical training in real industrial environments, allowing participants to observe the operation of flat warehouses and silos firsthand and explore modern storage technologies in action. The course is particularly recommended for agricultural producers, warehouse managers, logistics professionals, grain traders, and anyone seeking deeper expertise in agri-logistics and contemporary crop storage systems.
With its strong professional backing and hands-on methodology, MATE’s training promises what many in the sector seek: fewer losses, fewer complaints, and more stable quality.
