
The Miskolci Egyetem held a public celebratory senate meeting to commemorate the 1848–49 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence. The event featured a program with music, dance, and recitations, prepared using historical diaries and documents, with contributions from the Miskolc National Theatre.Prof. Dr. Szűcs Péter, the university’s Deputy Rector for Innovation and Science, delivered the keynote speech, highlighting the connection between the Selmec academic traditions and the spirit of the 1848 revolution. He emphasized that courage and knowledge are essential for freedom and progress, and that the university community continues to uphold these values.The ceremony also recognized outstanding students with Academic Medals and Certificates of Merit, continuing the centuries-old tradition of honoring excellence initiated by the Selmec Academy. The university’s faculties, including engineering, law, economics, humanities, health sciences, and music, presented awards such as the Stefánia Prize for exceptional achievements.
