Munster Technological University hosted an international symposium bringing together researchers and educators from Ireland, France, Sweden, Romania, and Belgium to share best practices in modern foreign languages teaching, intercultural communication, and internationalisation in higher education.
The event, part of an INGENIUM European University Alliance-funded research project, featured presentations on challenges and opportunities in fostering intercultural competence, as well as strategies for supporting students and staff in diverse cultural settings.
A concluding roundtable discussion explored future strategies for advancing internationalisation, including stakeholder engagement, institutional collaboration, and policy development.
Dr Kristin Brogan, principal investigator from MTU’s Department of Social Sciences, emphasised the symposium’s role in fostering inclusive and globally connected universities and expressed hope for continued national and international cooperation in this area.
The symposium underscored the impact of ongoing INGENIUM-funded research and reaffirmed Munster Technological University’s commitment to intercultural understanding and excellence in language education.
