National College of Ireland (NCI) has announced that it will host a pop-up Garda Station in the atrium of Mayor Square as part of an ongoing community engagement and public safety initiative in cooperation with An Garda Síochána. The service will operate every second Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning today, and will run on a rotational basis in the Docklands area over the coming months.
The initiative follows discussions between NCI, the North Wall Business and Community Watch, the DCC Docklands Oversight Forum, and senior Garda representatives, including the Assistant Garda Commissioner and the Superintendent at Store Street Garda Station. These conversations addressed local safety concerns and led to the development of the pop-up service.
The Garda community support desk will offer residents, workers, students, and visitors a chance to meet the local Community Policing Team, report incidents, raise concerns, and receive advice. NCI believes this accessible resource will be of great benefit to both the college community and the wider Docklands area.
Scheduled dates for the pop-up Garda Station at NCI include: July 18; August 1, 15, and 29; September 12 and 26; and October 10 and 24. The initiative will also operate at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in the South Docklands.
NCI has encouraged all members of the community to visit the pop-up station, make use of its services, and engage with the policing team.
